Treatment of Ophthalmic Diseases Based on the Theory of "The Heart Governing the Mind"

Abstract
"The heart governing the mind"is a core theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),emphasizing the heart's dominant role in mental activities and vital life functions.From the holistic perspective of TCM,this paper traces the theoretical origins connecting"the heart governing the mind"and the ocular system.It elucidates the close relationship between the heart and the eyes(which are connected to liver)from three aspects:the Five-Element theory,nourishment via blood vessels,and regulation by the heart-spirit.This reveals that dysfunction of the heart-spirit is a significant pathological mechanism underlying various ophthalmic disorders.In clinical application,multiple therapeutic methods are proposed,such as clearing heart fire,nourishing Yin to replenish the vessels,warming liver and unblocking Yang,and regulating mental activity.These methods are applied according to syndrome differentiation for different types of eye diseases.Verification through typical case studies demonstrates that treatment plans based on this theory can effectively improve patients'visual acuity and systemic symptoms.Research indicates that integrating the theory of"the heart governing the mind"into ophthalmic diagnosis and treatment,focusing on regulating the heart-spirit while considering related viscera,not only enhances clinical efficacy but also provides a new theoretical basis and practical guidance for syndrome differentiation and treatment in ophthalmology of TCM.关键词
