92例猫会阴部尿道造口术手术效果的回顾性分析
Retrospective Analysis on Surgical Outcomes in 92 Cases of Perineal Urethrostomy in Cats

Abstract
To investigate the postoperative complications,influencing factors,and treatment outcomes of perineal urethrostomy(PU)in cats with obstructive lower urinary tract disease and irreversible damage to the distal urethra,this study reviewed 92 cases of feline PU surgery performed at the China Agricultural University Veterinary Teaching Hospital from January 2019 to December 2022.Data on preoperative,intraoperative,and postoperative conditions were collected,and follow-up telephone interviews were conducted with pet owners to assess their satisfaction with the surgical outcomes.The results showed that the average age of cats undergoing PU was 3.9 years,with British Shorthair and American Shorthair breeds comprising 70.7%(65/92)of cases.All cats underwent PU due to feline lower urinary tract disease(FLUTD),with recurrent feline idiopathic cystitis(FIC)(38.0%,35/92)and urethral stricture(28.3%,26/92)being the most common indications.Among 72 cats with complete surgical records,47.2%(34/72)showed no obvious urethral abnormalities during surgery.Of these,49 cats underwent PU as the sole procedure,while 23 underwent combined surgeries.Continuous suturing was used in 63 cases to secure the distal penile urethral mucosa to the skin at the stoma site,while 9 cases used interrupted sutures.The incidence of short-term and long-term complications was 41.7%(30/72)and 34.7%(25/72),respectively,with intermittent wound bleeding and recurrent FIC being the most common short-term and long-term complications.Additionally,cats that underwent PU combined with neutering exhibited a significantly higher proportion of intermittent wound bleeding compared to those that did not undergo neutering(P<0.01).A follow-up survey of 55 pet owners showed that 83.6%(46/55)were satisfied with the PU outcomes.The findings indicate that FLUTD is a major reason for PU in cats,with a relatively high rate of postoperative complications.Concurrent neutering during PU may increase the risk of intermittent wound bleeding.Nevertheless,the majority of pet owners expressed satisfaction with the treatment outcomes of PU.关键词
