Abstract
To evaluate the long-term functional recovery following femoral head and neck excision(FHNE)in cats,a follow-up telephone survey was conducted with pet owners.Postoperative functional recovery was assessed using the average disability score(ADS),which evaluated the cat's ability to walk,sit,stand,run,climb,jump,play,or groom.The survey also assessed complications and owner satisfaction.Of the 63 cats that underwent FHNE,49 were successfully followed up.The results showed that 39 cats(79.6%)had an excellent ADS score,9(18.4%)were rated good,and 1(2.0%)acceptable.Long-term complications were reported in 18 cats(36.7%),though none were severe;7 cats(14.3%)exhibited mild pain.No owner deemed the surgery ineffective.The findings suggest that FHNE is an effective salvage procedure for treating femoral neck or epiphyseal fractures and hip dislocations in cats,yielding excellent or good long-term functional outcomes in most cases without severe complications,ultimately improving feline quality of life.关键词
