Life satisfaction and its association with perceived social support among patients with transsexualism sufferers

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the life satisfaction status of patients with transsexualism sufferers and analyze its relationship with perceived social support.Methods:A total of 180 patients diagnosed with ICD-10 transsexualism completed a self-administered demographic questionnaire,the Satisfaction With Life Scale(SWLS),and the Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS),with SWLS scores＞20 indicating life satisfaction.Results:The life satisfaction rate among individuals with transsexualism was 36.1%(65/180),with an average SWLS score of(16.3±6.6)points.The life satisfaction group demonstrated significantly higher scores than the dissatisfaction group in both the total PSSS scores and the family support subscale(P＜0.01 or P＜0.001).Logistic regression a-nalysis revealed that PSSS family support served as a protective factor for life satisfaction(OR=1.14,95%CI:1.05-1.24).Conclusion:Patients with transsexualism reported generally low levels of life satisfaction,which were positively associated with perceived social support-particularly from family members.关键词
