Randomized single-blind controlled trial of group strengths-based cognitive behavioral therapy combined with pharmacotherapy for depression

Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of group strength-based cognitive behavioral therapy(SBCBT)combined with pharmacotherapy in improving depressive symptoms,emotion regulation strategies,and positive psy-chological capital in patients with depression.Methods:A randomized single-blind parallel controlled trial was con-ducted with 66 patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder.Participants were randomly assigned to either a combined treatment group(n=32)receiving SSRIs pharmacotherapy plus 8 sessions of group SBCBT(90 minutes per session)or a medication-only control group(n=34).Outcomes were assessed with the 17-item Hamilton De-pression Rating Scale(HAMD-17),Positive Psychological Capital Questionnaire(PPQ),and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire(ERQ).Results:After 8 sessions,the combined treatment group demonstrated significantly greater re-ductions in HAMD-17 scores(P＜0.001)and expressive suppression scores(ERQ subscale)compared to the med-ication-only group.Additionally,the combined group showed significantly larger improvements in PPQ total scores,all PPQ subscales,and cognitive reappraisal scores(ERQ subscale)(Ps＜0.05).The effective rate and cure rate in the combined treatment group were both higher than those in the medication-only control group(Ps＜0.05).Con-clusion:Group-based SBCBT combined with pharmacotherapy enhances emotion regulation strategies and promotes positive psychological capital in patients with depression,outperforming pharmacotherapy alone.This integrated ap-proach offers a clinically meaningful advancement in depression treatment.关键词
