The Tibetan medicinal materials varieties recorded in Materia Medica of Tibetan Medicine and a comparative study on the characteristics and clinical application with the same varieties in China

Abstract
Objective:To reveal the varieties and treatment characteristics of Indian Tibetan medicinal herbs,as well as the simi-larities and differences in drug names and clinical applications with Chinese counterparts.Methods:Information on Tibetan medicinal materials used in India and China was extracted and excavated from the Materia Medica of Tibetan Medicine published in India,as well as from the World Plant Quick Reference Dictionary,Chinese Ethnic Medicine Dictionary,Jingjing Materia Medica,and Jing-zhu Materia Medica.The information included the names of Tibetan medicinal materials,Sanskrit names,Latin scientific names,types of medicinal materials,family and genus names,properties and flavors,medicinal parts,and therapeutic purposes.A database was established and statistical and comparative analysis was conducted.Results:This book contained a total of 568 medicinal herbs,with plant,animal,mineral,and other medicinal herbs accounting for 70.07%,10.92%,6.69%,and 12.32%respectively,involving 161 families and 316 genera.There were 158 varieties of the same species recorded in three Chinese monographs.There were 228 me-dicinal herbs with recorded medicinal properties,including 50 herbs of the same variety(25 herbs with similar medicinal properties,and 25 herbs with dissimilar medicinal properties).There were 296 me-dicinal herbs recorded with medicinal flavors,including 74 herbs of the same variety(46 herbs of the same variety with similar flavors,4 herbs with partially similar flavors,and 24 herbs with dissimilar flavors).There were 181 medicinal herbs with Sanskrit names that sounded similar to the Tibetan names written in India,and 347 herbs that did not sound similar.There were 91 Tibetan pronunciations in China that were similar to those written in India,and 66 were dissimilar.There were 13 medicinal herbs of the same variety with similar pronunciations,and 49 with dissimilar pronunciations.Commonly used medicinal parts included animal meat,fruits,roots and rhizomes,flowers,leaves,bark,and seeds.However,there were certain differences in the use of medicinal parts of the same variety in China,mainly including fruits,seeds,roots,leaves,bark,etc.It was commonly used to treat digestive system diseases,certain infec-tious diseases,parasitic diseases,etc.Common symptoms included constipation,poisoning,ulcers,etc.However,there were certain differences in the use of the same type of treatment in China,mainly used for digestive system diseases,respiratory system diseases,skin and subcutaneous tissue diseases.Common symptoms included indigestion,diarrhea,cough,etc.Conclusion:The variety of Tibetan medicinal materials in India is relatively rich,and there are differences in medicinal properties,flavors,medicinal parts,and indications compared to the same varieties used in China,which helps to expand the application value of Tibetan medicinal materials.The pronunciation research of Tibetan medicinal materials suggests their source and usage communication.关键词
