Abstract
To increase the compositional uniformity of Ti-6Al-4V alloy ingots and address the issue of aluminium(Al)depletion occurring at the bottom of the ingot,the influences of different mixing weights(100,150,and 200 kg)and mixing cycles(single mixing and double mixing)during electrode block preparation on the alloy distribution in electrode blocks and the compositional uniformity of the final ingots were systematically investigated.The results show that with increasing mixing weight,the degree of vanadium-aluminium(V-Al)alloy deposition and the number of Al nodules in the middle and lower parts of the electrode block intensify,leading to macroscopic segregation inside the electrode block.Under the single mixing method,a large-scale alloy-depleted zone is formed in the upper part of the electrode block;this inhomogeneity cannot be completely eliminated in the subsequent melting process and is ultimately inherited by the ingot bottom,resulting in an Al-depleted region.In contrast,the double mixing method,through batch feeding,effectively breaks up the scale of macroscopic segregation and confines it within the tolerance range of self-homogenization capability during the melting process.Consequently,the overall compositional uniformity of the ingot is significantly improved.关键词
