Abstract

One-dimensional tests had been made to clarify the consolidation creep characteristics of Zhuhai soft clay under various preloading conditions,and then the model fitting validation was carried out based on the test results.The results showed that the strain rate of soft clay decreased with the loading operation,and the main consolidation deformation gradually changed to be the decay-stable creep.Strain-time logarithmic curve showed two phenomena,i.e.the suddenly increased stress came from the centralized penetration of drainage paths at a certain moment,and the turning point was used to judge the primary and secondary stages of soft soil consolidation.The inflection point on the strain-stress isochronous curve corresponded to the structure yielding stress,and more obvious the curve's concavity and convexity was,much stronger the nonlinear creep characteristic of soft soil was,and ceteris paribus vice versa.The preloading consolidated soft soil earlier,reduced the ultimate deformation,and affected the structure yield stress.A five-element model was built for the fitting validation subject to stronger linearity of Zhuhai soft soil,and an 1-D empirical model of consolidation creep was built subject to stronger non-linearity.
