Abstract

To reduce the energy consumption and travel time of pure electric buses and avoid secondary stopping and starting at signalized intersections,an eco-driving strategy for pure electric buses departing from stops considering holding time was proposed.By appropriately extending the bus's dwelling time at stops,the delay time at signalized intersections can be"shifted"to the stops.Firstly,natural driving data of pure electric buses were collected to analyze their motion and energy consumption characteristics during departure.Subsequently,four scenarios were defined based on the signal status when the buses arrive at the stops,and the time windows during which the buses can pass through the intersection under each scenario were determined.Then,an optimization model for the eco-driving of pure electric buses departing from stops considering holding time was established,and the NSGA-Ⅱ algorithm was used to solve for the holding time and departure speed sequence.Finally,the model was simulated and validated.The results showed that the proposed"holding time+speed guidance"departure strategy could effectively reduce bus energy consumption and travel time under different departure scenarios.When the remaining green time was short or the remaining red time was long,both the energy saving rate(14.82%~21.19%)and travel time reduction rate(9.36%~14.24%)were significant.In contrast,when the remaining green time was long or the remaining red time was short,the energy saving rate(8.98%~12.25%)and travel time reduction rate(4.59%~8.63%)were relatively smaller.This strategy can provide a technical reference for optimizing eco-driving of pure electric buses and promoting green and low-carbon operations in urban bus systems.
