Abstract

Dialeurodes citri(Ashmead)(Hemiptera:Aleyrodidae)mainly infests economic forest plants such as citrus and landscape greening plants.The morphological characteristics of the adults of D.citri were observed and recorded in detail by super-depth-of-field microscope and scanning electron microscope.The results showed that the adults of D.citri were pale yellowish-white,and the body length of female was about 1.14 mm and the body width was 0.44 mm.The male was slightly smaller.The two pairs of wings were covered with white wax powder.The antennae were yellow,ranging from 0.35 to 0.45 mm in length,with seven segments.One pair of compound eyes,with the upper and lower compound eyes were connected by one to three ommatidia.The mouthpart was piercing-sucking type,comprising one mandibular stylet and two maxillary stylets.The tibiae of three pairs of legs were equipped with tibial combs and brush-like setae,and the end of the second tarsomere bore claws.The female genitalia were composed of three valvulae,with an anal opening and a vasiform orifice on the dorsal side of the ovipositor.The male genitalia consisted of claspers and a tubular aedeagus;the claspers were slender,and the end of the tubular aedeagus was slightly expanded without branching.Various types of sensilla were distributed on parts such as the antennae,mouthpart,tibiae,tarsi and genitalia.The results can provide a solid morphological basis for the identification and control of D.citri.
