Assessment Method for Peak Regulation and Reserve Potential of Energy-intensive Loads Considering Spatiotemporal Balance of Flexibility Supply and Demand

Abstract
To accurately quantify the ability of energy-intensive loads(EILs)to support the flexible operation of power systems with a high proportion of renewable energy,this paper proposes an assessment method for peak regulation and reserve potential of EILs considering the spatiotemporal balance of flexibility supply and demand.First,refined models for electrolytic aluminum and electric arc furnace loads are developed to characterize their power regulation features under peak regulation operation.Considering the coupling between peak regulation and reserve provision,reserve flexibility supply models are established accordingly.Second,the transmission process of grid flexibility supply and demand is analyzed.Models for quantifying and transmitting flexibility supply and demand are established,and the spatiotemporal balance conditions for system flexibility are proposed.Then,from the system operation perspective,response potential indices for EIL are constructed by accounting for the spatiotemporal characteristics of flexibility supply and demand.The system flexibility shortage index is introduced as an optimization variable.Based on operational simulation,an evaluation model for peak regulation and reserve potential of EIL is developed under spatiotemporal balance constraints of flexibility supply and demand,enabling time-series assessment of their peak regulation capability and reserve potential.Finally,an modified IEEE 30-bus system is used for simulation validation.The simulation results show that the proposed assessment method can provide more accurate data references for grid planning and dispatching departments.关键词
