Abstract

In case of switching back-to-back capacitor bank by vacuum circuti breaker,the inrush arc during the closing pre-strike process will seriously ablate the contact surface of the vacuum interrupter,and the damaged con-tact surface will lead to the problem of high re-strike probability during the opening process.During the closing pro-cess,the magnetic field of the contact itself will affect the characteristics of the inrush pre-strike arc,which is the key factor to determine the re-strike probability.The purpose of this paper is to study the influence of cup-shaped transverse and longitudinal magnetic field structure on the characteristics of pre-strike arc in the capacitive switch-ing process of vacuum interrupter.In this paper,the vacuum interrupter contacts with cup-shaped transverse mag-netic and longitudinal magnetic structures are used for experiments.The contact diameter of the vacuum interrupter is 48 mm and the transparent glass insulation shell is used.There is no shield inside to facilitate the observation of pre-strike arc.In the experiment,a high-speed camera is used to observe and record the characteristics of inrush pre-strike arc.The experimental results show that under the same conditions,the cup-shaped longitudinal magnetic field is more effective than the transverse magnetic field to reduce the ablation of the contact surface by the pre-strike inrush arc,thereby improving the capacitive current interruption capability of the vacuum interrupter.This is not only of great significance to solve the problem of re-strike of capacitive interruption of vacuum circuit breaker,but also provides technical guidance and theoretical basis for the development of vacuum circuit breakers to higher voltage levels.
