Analysis of the effects of Xinmeng River drought relief water diversion trial operation on water quantity improvement and water environment improvement in the Huxi Area

Abstract
Based on the 2022 trial operation of drought relief water diversion through the Xinmeng River,this study analyzes its effects on water quantity enhancement and water environment improvement in the Huxi Area of the Taihu Basin.Using detailed monitoring data during the trial operation,this study analyzes water exchange in various rivers and lakes and the characteristics of water quality variation in different areas.The results demonstrate that water diversion through the Xinmeng River has significantly increased the volume of water diverted from the Yangtze River to the lakes in the Huxi Area,effectively replenished water resources in the Taoge Lakes and Taihu Lake,and improved regional hydrological conditions.Water quality in major rivers and key lakes of the Huxi Area has also been improved to varying degrees,with concentrations of indicators such as total phosphorus significantly decreased.The findings provide an important basis for the optimal operation of the Xinmeng River Project,as well as for water resource management and ecological environment improvement in the Taihu Basin.关键词
