辣椒鲜果表皮蜡质含量对采后贮藏的影响
Effect of Cuticular Wax Content in Fresh Pepper Fruits on Postharvest Storage

Abstract
Cuticular wax on the surface of pepper fruits exerts a crucial effect on fruit quality and storage tolerance during postharvest storage.Taking Zhangshugang pepper(S8)and its wax-deficient mutant ss56 as experimental materials,we observed the differences in cuticular wax deposition and structural characteristics during fruit development via oil red staining and scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and systematically compared their storage properties under normal temperature and cold storage conditions.The results showed that,compared with the wild-type S8,the mutant ss56 exhibited a significant reduction in epicuticular wax accumulation,shrinkage of epidermal structure,and impaired barrier function of the cuticle.Under low-temperature storage,the fruit quality indices of both S8 and ss56 were superior to those under normal temperature storage,indicating that low temperature could significantly prolong the fruit storage period.For ss56 stored at normal temperature,fruit color turned red on the 8th day,fruit stalks rotted on the 12th day,and the fruits basically lost their edible value.After 16 days of postharvest storage,ss56 presented a higher weight loss rate and decay index,delayed color change,inhibited carotenoid accumulation,and a faster decline in fruit firmness.Meanwhile,with the extension of storage time,the malondialdehyde(MDA)content and relative electrical conductivity of ss56 increased significantly compared with S8,accompanied by elevated activities of antioxidant enzymes.These findings suggested that the degree of membrane lipid peroxidation in ss56 was aggravated,and fruit senescence was accelerated.This study demonstrated that cuticular wax content is closely associated with the postharvest storage quality of pepper fruits,and the reduction in wax content leads to enhanced permeability and poor storage tolerance of the fruits.关键词
