Interaction between Metal Exposure and Gut Microbiota and Health Effects
摘要
Abstract
This review systematically summarizes the complex interactions between metal exposure and the gut microbiota and their consequential impacts on host health.Metal exposure alters gut microbial composition in a dose-dependent manner,suppressing beneficial bacteria,promoting potential pathogens,and altering microbial diversity and ecological networks.In turn,the gut microbiota modulates metal absorption,transformation,distribution,and excretion,thereby critically influencing metal bioavailability and toxic-ity,and playing pivotal roles in both detoxification and toxicity enhancement.These interactions constitute the"metal-microbiota-host"axis,whose dynamic equilibrium profoundly shapes the ultimate health outcomes of metal exposure.Current research focuses on probiotic interventions to restore microbial balance,while future studies should employ multi-omics approaches to elucidate underlying mechanisms,thereby informing novel strategies for microbiotabased interventions and mitigation of metal-related health risks.关键词
