摘要

Abstract

This review systematically summarizes the complex interactions between metal exposure and the gut microbiota and their consequential impacts on host health.Metal exposure alters gut microbial composition in a dose-dependent manner,suppressing beneficial bacteria,promoting potential pathogens,and altering microbial diversity and ecological networks.In turn,the gut microbiota modulates metal absorption,transformation,distribution,and excretion,thereby critically influencing metal bioavailability and toxic-ity,and playing pivotal roles in both detoxification and toxicity enhancement.These interactions constitute the"metal-microbiota-host"axis,whose dynamic equilibrium profoundly shapes the ultimate health outcomes of metal exposure.Current research focuses on probiotic interventions to restore microbial balance,while future studies should employ multi-omics approaches to elucidate underlying mechanisms,thereby informing novel strategies for microbiotabased interventions and mitigation of metal-related health risks.
