摘要

Abstract

To accurately simulate the entire penetration process of a projectile penetrating a protected chest target,a new method combining high-precision biological modeling with efficient engineering simplification was adopted.That is,a high-precision thoracic finite element model was constructed based on computed tomography(CT)data and simplified into a laminated plate structure to improve computational efficiency.Model accuracy was validated through comparison with experimental data.Simulation results indicate that the primary failure modes of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE)fiber soft body armor are fiber tensile failure,along with matrix tensile and compressive failures.The equivalent stress nephogram displays a relatively regular pattern,with high-stress areas concentrated near the impact point.The failed Cohesive elements are mainly located near the impact point,and the area where they are distributed is comparable to the diameter of the projectile.Furthermore,the system quantifies the influence mechanism of two key factors,the ply structure and impact velocity,on the protective performance.The research shows that among three different ply configurations,the[-45/0/45/90]16 ply configuration has the best protective performance.Moreover,at a low velocity(360 m/s),the velocity attenuation rate of the projectile is the highest,reaching 77.2%.In terms of energy absorption,it shows velocity sensitivity,which provides a theoretical basis for the optimal design of soft bulletproof vests.
