Latent profile analysis and influencing factors of anxiety of the existential meaninglessness in elderly patients with chronic diseases

Abstract
Objective:To analyze the categories and influencing factors of anxiety of the existential meaninglessness in elderly patients with chronic diseases.Methods:A total of 493 elderly patients with chronic diseases from six tertiary grade A hospitals in Hunan province were selected as research subjects by convenience sampling from July to September 2024.A questionnaire survey was conducted using the General Information Questionnaire,Anxiety Measure of the Existential Meaninglessness Scale,Chinese Self-Transcendence Scale,and Health empowerment scale for elderly patients with chronic disease.Latent profile analysis and multinomial Logistic regression were used to explore the categories and influencing factors of anxiety of the existential meaninglessness in elderly patients with chronic diseases.Results:Anxiety of the existential meaninglessness in elderly patients with chronic diseases could be divided into three categories,namely low existential meaninglessness anxiety group(48.48%),moderate existential meaninglessness anxiety mixed group(43.41%),and high existential meaninglessness anxiety group(8.11%).Logistic regression analysis showed that economic resources,monthly family income,attitude towards life,type of medical insurance,and health empowerment were influencing factors for the categories of anxiety of the existential meaninglessness in elderly patients with chronic diseases(all P<0.05).Conclusions:Anxiety of the existential meaninglessness in elderly patients with chronic diseases exhibits group heterogeneity.Targeted interventions based on different categories could be implemented in clinical nursing to reduce the anxiety of existential meaninglessness in elderly patients with chronic diseases.关键词
