Potential,Challenges and Countermeasures in Utilizing Bamboo as a Substitute for Plastic

Abstract
"Bamboo as a substitute for plastic"has become a feasible plan to promote socio-economic development.This paper systematically expounds the potential,implementation support,and development prospects of bamboo resources in plastic substitution from four aspects:the structural and mechanical properties of bamboo itself,the global endowment of bamboo resources,the technology for bamboo utilization along with the market policy environment,and the core challenges faced by industrial development.Additionally,aiming at the key issues in industrial development,such as the scarcity of bamboo species dedicated to plastic substitution and the lagging supporting cultivation technologies,the difficulty of bamboo harvesting and transportation technologies in matching industrialized utilization,the weakness in processing technologies of high-value-added products for plastic substitution,the absence of standard system for plastic-substituting products,and the imperfection of the full life cycle and carbon assessment system for bamboo,it puts forward targeted countermeasures.These include creating and cultivating bamboo varieties dedicated to plastic substitution,breaking through the technological bottlenecks in bamboo resource utilization through new quality productive forces,building innovation platforms to promote the integrated development of the primary,secondary,and tertiary industries of the bamboo industry,formulating supportive policies covering the entire industrial chain,and establishing an international standard system for plastic-substituting products.It is expected to enhance the public's awareness of the potential of bamboo resources in plastic substitution and provide practical paths for the high-quality and sustainable development of the"bamboo as a substitute for plastic"industry.关键词
