Abstract

To screen excellent rootstock materials with strong resistance to root-knot nematodes and provide theoretical basis for sub-sequent variety breeding,nine purebred selfing lines of watermelon rootstocks were used as experimental materials,with Jingxinzai 4 as the control.Through pot and field cultivation trials,indicators such as root fresh weight,root-knot number,ootheca count,single fruit weight of grafted watermelons,soluble solids content,and root disease severity were investigated.The results showed that in terms of pot identification,the number of root knots and egg sacs per plant of rootstock 8 was 59.78 and 2.66,respectively,significantly lower than other rootstocks.The disease index was 23.61,indicating resistance to disease.In terms of cultivation in the disease nursery,the disease incidence levels of 7,8,and 10 were the lowest,all at 0.5.The highest incidence level in field 4.The weight of single melon No.8 was the highest,at 2.27 kg.The soluble solids in the center of No.1 showed the best performance,followed by No.8 with 13.10%and 13%,respectively.In conclusion,No.8 is the best rootstock material with resistance to root knot nematodes and can be used for hybrid assembly of new rootstock varieties in the future.
