Abstract

In response to the problems such as limited working space and poor bend passage capability existing in the current detection equipment for small‐diameter pipeline(DN≤200 mm),based on orthogonal excitation technology,a three‐dimensional magnetic flux leakage detector suitable for the pipeline with a diameter of ⌀159 mm was designed.The results show that the detector can pass through a 1.5D外径 elbow,and establish a two‐dimensional axisymmetric finite element analysis model to analyze the magnetization capability of the magnet assembly in both static and dynamic conditions.This magnet assembly can magnetize the tested pipeline to above 1.6 T.Through industrial pipeline testing,the detection ability and magnetization capability of the detector are verified.And through excavation verification,it is proved that the designed detector,in a non‐saturated magnetization state,has a high detection accuracy for pipeline metal loss defects:the length accuracy reaches±10 mm;the width accuracy reaches±10 mm;the depth accuracy reaches±10%of the normal wall thickness of the inspected pipeline.The research can provide a reference for the development and detection of small‐diameter pipeline detectors.
