Textual research on Jiucai(Allium tuberosum Rottl)in TCM works

Abstract
By consulting TCM works,this paper conducts textual research on the name,quality,origin,harvesting,processing,nature,flavor,meridian affinity,efficacy,and indications of Jiucai(Allium tuberosum Rottl).The name"Jiucai"originates from its morphological characteristics of growing above the ground and having multiple harvests.Its alternative names are mostly related to its morphological features,growth habits,and efficacy characteristics.The harvesting of Jiucai(Allium tuberosum Rottl)is primarily carried out in spring,and although it has varied with the development of different eras and cultivation techniques,spring remains the widely recognized optimal harvesting period.TCM works generally believe Jiucai(Allium tuberosum Rottl)is pungent in flavor,warm in nature,and acts on the"liver,stomach,and kidney"meridians.Zhong Hua Ben Cao(Compendium of Chinese Materia Medica)summarizes the meridian affinity of Jiucai(Allium tuberosum Rottl)as entering the"Liver,stomach,Kidney,lung,and spleen meridians."The efficacy of Jiucai(Allium tuberosum Rottl)is described as"calming the five zang organs,eliminating heat in the stomach,and benefiting the patients."After the Tang and Song dynasties,medical practitioners added that Jiucai(Allium tuberosum Rottl)can stop nosebleeds,treat ringworm and sores,relieve chest bi-impediment,stop seminal emission and resolve turbidity,stop leucorrhea,and treat persistent and abnormal penile erection,focusing on its functions of dispersing blood stasis,circulating blood,tonifying the kidney and supporting yang.关键词
