Exploring the regulatory effects of Bifidobacterium lactis and Lactobacillus plantarum on cat intestinal metabolism based on metabolomics
摘要
Abstract
This study utilized metabolomics technology to investigate the regulatory effects of Bifidobacterium lactis and Lactobacillus plantarum on feline gut metabolism.Healthy cats were divided into a probiotic group and a control group under consistent dietary conditions to assess the impact of probiotic intervention on fecal metabolites.Using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(UHPLC-MS/MS)and multivariate statistical analyses(PCA,OPLS-DA),the study revealed that probiotics significantly altered the composition of gut metabolites, particularly in lipid metabolism, organic acid metabolism, and histidine metabolism pathways.KEGG pathway enrichment analysis indicated that probiotics modulated multiple pathways, including penicillin biosynthesis, steroid hormone biosynthesis, purine metabolism, and histidine metabolism, thereby enhancing host immune function and antioxidant capacity. In histidine metabolism, probiotic intervention significantly upregulated imidazoleacetic acid riboside and 3-methyl-L-histidine while downregulating N-ω-acetylhistamine and carnosine, suggesting that probiotics may improve the gut microenvironment through regulation of these metabolites.Bifidobacterium lactis and Lactobacillus plantarum showed positive and negative correlations with key metabolites, indicating their important role in maintaining metabolic balance. This study provided a theoretical basis for the application of probiotics in pet gut health and offered a new perspective for future research on pet nutrition and metabolic health.关键词
