摘要

Abstract

[Purpose/Significance]Since the 1950s,the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)has been in-fluencing China's academic disciplines through functioning as a science and technology think tank.This paper selects laser techno-science,a typical discipline of CAS,as a case study to explore how national research insti-tutions contribute to disciplinary development through their think tank functions.[Method/Process]Utilizing archival research,this study clarifies the historical trajectory of laser techno-science and systematically analyzes CAS's engagement in policy consultation across different historical stages.By doing so,it distills the key content,mechanisms,and characteristics of the CAS's think tank role in various periods.[Result/Conclusion]As a na-tional research institution,CAS has influenced the development of laser techno-science through multiple channels and mechanisms,integrating the discipline into a range of policy consultation frameworks,including strategic planning,research programs,policy formulation,surveys,expert evaluations,and feasibility assessments.This in-volvement has significantly shaped disciplinary trajectories and strategic directions.Moving forward,for national research institutions like CAS to enhance their think tank function in specific disciplines,it is essential to strength-en top-level strategic planning,clarify the distinctions and interconnections among different levels of policy texts,allow space for the exploration of new methods and theories,and foster the development of multi-tiered science and technology think tank system.Additionally,promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and integrating exper-tise from diverse fields will be crucial in advancing research paradigms and policy advisory mechanisms.
