Bumblebee diversity in the agroforestry ecotone in Hubei Qizimeishan National Nature Reserve

Abstract
Bumblebees(Bombus spp.)constitute vital pollinator insects delivering significant ecological and economic value.In this study,bumblebee diversity and plant-pollinator interactions were investigated within the florally rich agroforestry ecotones of Hubei Qizimeishan National Nature Reserve,China,along a landscape gradient spanning from protected core areas to adjacent town zones during 2021-2023.Comprehensive surveys recorded 13 bumblebee species across 7 subgenera over three years,with Bombus trifasciatus,B.picipes,and B.festivus identified as dominant species.Bumblebee species richness and diversity were relatively high,while significant spatial heterogeneity was also observed.Bumblebee species richness and diversity decreased significantly as agricultural land area increased.Bumblebees served as pollinators for 49 plant species in 26 families,especially in Asteraceae,Fabaceae,Rosaceae,and Lamiaceae.Distinct foraging preferences were evident among bumblebee species,with 49 plant species clustering into four distinct groups.This research documents baseline bumblebee biodiversity patterns in a critical ecotone,thereby offering foundational data for conservation strategies and sustainable utilization of pollination services in agroforestry systems.关键词
