Design and implementation of edge detection system based on stochastic computing

Abstract
Stochastic computing(SC)can achieve complex operations through simple logic,sacrificing a certain degree of accuracy in exchange for the advantages of low power consumption,low hardware overhead,and high error toler-ance.This paper proposes a stochastic computing edge detection circuit that effectively reduces resource consump-tion while ensuring detection quality by simplifying the Sobel operator of stochastic computing and truncating random number source.The experimental results show that compared with accurate computation,this study reduces the look-up table(LUT)of the edge detection part by approximately 54.4%,the flip-flop(FF)by approximately 40.4%,and the digital signal processing(DSP)from 6 to 1 without significant differences in detection results.关键词
