Current Status and Prospects of Molecular Marker Research in Mango

Abstract
Mango(Mangifera indica)is one of the major tropical fruit trees worldwide,and its genetic diversity analysis and germplasm innovation are of great significance for the sustainable development of the industry.The rapid advancement of molecular marker technologies has provided core tools for systematically studying the genetic background of mango,cultivar identification,and genetic mechanisms underlying important traits.This review indicated that simple sequence repeat(SSR)markers,due to their high polymorphism and codominant nature,are the most widely used technique in mango research,which have been successfully applied in constructing cultivar finger-print profiles,identifying hybrid progeny,and developing molecular ID systems.Inter-simple se-quence repeat(ISSR)markers have played an important role in early genetic diversity analysis and assisted screening for disease resistance.Amplified fragment length polymorphism(AFLP),with its high resolution,has clearly revealed the genetic structure of cultivated varieties and wild resourc-es.Sequence-related amplified polymorphism(SRAP)markers have been effectively utilized in con-structing genetic linkage maps and classifying germplasm groups.Other molecular marker technolo-gies,from random amplified polymorphic DNA(RAPD)at early stage to functional markers like start codon targeted polymorphism(SCoT)and cis-element amplified polymorphism(CEAP),and further to the precise single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)markers,have provided critical sup-ports for mango germplasm identification,genetic diversity analysis,and precised disease resis-tance breeding,driving the process of variety improvement.However,the molecular markers for mangoes are facing challenges such as the complex genome structure of mangoes,difficulties in de-veloping molecular markers,high costs of high-throughput sequencing technologies,and uncertain-ty of molecular marker utilization for the simultaneous improvement of multiple desirable traits.Fu-ture efforts should focus on in-depth whole-genome analysis of mango,establishing standardized molecular identification systems,deepening research on molecular mechanisms of abiotic stress and disease resistance,and promoting the translation of molecular marker-assisted selection technolo-gies into practical field breeding.These advances are expected to provide a theoretical foundation and technical support for the conservation of mango germplasm resources,targeted breeding of new varieties,and enhancement of industrial competitiveness in China.关键词
