Fruit Quality Analysis of New Mango Variety Renong No.18

Abstract
[Objective]Mango(Mangifera indica L.)is a plant of the genus Mangifera in Ana-cardiaceae family,whch is known as the'King of Tropical Fruits'.Lack of mango varieties is one of the key factors restricting the development of the mango industry in China.This study aimed to analyze and evaluate the fruit quality of the new mango variety,Renong No.18,providing a theo-retical basis for the adoption and promotion of the variety.[Method]Applying fruits of Renong No.18 as experimental materials,the fruit transverse diameter,fruit longitudinal diameter,single fruit weight,vitamin C content,total soluble sugars content,titratable acid content,and soluble solids content were measured,while indicators including fruit shape index and edibility rate were calculat-ed,followed by correlation analysis between different indicators.[Result]The average single fruit weight of Renong No.18 was 478.39 g,with an average edible rate of 82.00%.The average fruit transverse diameter and longitudinal diameter was 84.00 mm and 126.10 mm,respectively.The av-erage fruit shape index was 1.50,while the fruits were slender and elliptical.The average vitamin C content and average total soluble sugar content was 16.15 mg/100 g and 247.30 mg/g,respectively,and the average soluble solids content and average titratable acid content was 20.00%and 0.18%,re-spectively.The coefficient of variation for the 9 trait indicators ranged from 0.04%to 63.72%,with the highest variation in vitamin C content(63.72%),indicating that this trait is highly unstable.In terms of fruit quality,apart from fruit transverse diameter and titratable acid content,seven trait in-dicators of Renong No.18 were superior to those of Renong No.1,though the overall quality differ-ence between the two was not significant.Correlation analysis revealed that the fruit transverse diam-eter of Renong No.18 was extremely significantly positively correlated with the fruit longitudinal di-ameter and single fruit weight,and significantly negatively correlated with the soluble solid content.The fruit longitudinal diameter was extremely significantly positively correlated with the fruit shape index and single fruit weight,and significantly negatively correlated with the titratable acid content and soluble solid content.The soluble total sugar content was not significantly correlated with other indicators.[Conclusion]Renong No.18 has the characteristics of large fruit,high nutrition and low acid,which could be positioned as a high-end fresh-eating and functional processing purposed variety.关键词
