Evaluation on geological condition and target area optimization for carbon dioxide storage in the Beibu Gulf Basin

Abstract
To evaluate the geological condition of carbon dioxide storage and target area selection in the Beibu Gulf Basin,based on the available evaluation technology for CO2 storage and oil and gas recovery utilization,an evaluation index system was created at different levels for the basin,for which geological storage potential,stor-age safety,storage economy,and environmental indicators were considered.The fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method was applied to form a quantitative standard for evaluating the suitability of CO2 storage in the Beibu Gulf Basin.In addition,the fault development and reservoir-cap combination in the Beibu Gulf Basin were character-ized,from which more than 50 oilfields and oil-bearing structures were selected preliminarily and 6 of them in-cluding Weizhou A oil field meet the conditions of CO2 sequestration.Meanwhile,according to the calculation of the index quantification system,the comprehensive evaluation values of these candidates were 5.52-7.30,indicat-ing moderate level in CO2 storage suitability,of which the Wushi D oil-bearing structure scored the best.关键词
