Abstract

The low operational efficiency and insufficient snow removal rate of transverse snow removal devices on urban roads during winter snow seasons are addressed through parameter studies of the snow brush actuator based on chain drive principles,enabling the device to achieve enhanced snow removal performance.A collaborative optimization scheme combining bristle arrangement spacing with drive-travel speed ratio is proposed and validated through an integrated research methodology of dynamic simulation and snow removal experiments.The snow removal process is simulated using explicit dynamics based on the finite element method,where the snow components and bristle elastoplastic characteristics are characterized through constitutive equations.A finite element model of the snow removal process is established,through which dynamic simulations under varying bristle spacing and speed ratios are conducted to analyze parameter effects on operational efficiency.Simulation results indicate that when bristle spacing is maintained at 22~28 cm,the average shear stress generated on the snow layer reaches 38.853 MPa,showing 5.3%and 4.4%increases compared to spacing intervals of 15~21 cm and 29~35 cm,respectively.At a travel speed of 11 km/h,a drive-to-travel speed ratio of 1.3∶1 is observed to produce denser and more uniform snow contact coverage than ratios of 1∶1 and 1.5∶1.Experimental verification demonstrates that with optimized parameters(25 cm spacing,11 km/h travel speed,and 14 km/h drive speed),a snow removal rate of 94.2%is achieved.This represents a 2.5%improvement over the baseline performance with 40 cm spacing,confirming the validity of the simulation and meeting road cleanliness requirements.A novel optimization strategy is thus proposed for efficient snow removal equipment operation.
