Abstract

In order to investigate the electrostatic characteristics of ammonium perchlorate(AP),an adjustable-humidity test apparatus was employed.The effects of sliding chute length,material of sliding chute,environment humidity,cross-sectional shape,and inner diameter on the electrostatic characteristics of AP powder were investigated.Discrete element method(DEM)simulations were utilized to analyze the electrostatic characteristics under different sliding chute shapes and inner diame-ters.The results showed that the electrostatic accumulation of AP powder increases with the length of the sliding chute,and decrease with increased environmental humidity.The accumulation decreased from 271.5 nC at 35%RH to 99.5 nC at 85%RH.Regarding the sliding chute cross-sectional shapes,the accumulation order was:the trapezoidal chute>the semi-circular>triangular chutes.Within the inner diameter range of 3 cm to 9 cm,the electrostatic accumulation increased with the sliding chute inner diameter.DEM simulations indicated that the effective contact area between the powder and the sliding chute var-ied with the cross-sectional shape and inner diameter of the sliding chute.An increase in this effective contact area was associ-ated with greater electrostatic accumulation.
