Generational Differences in Occupant Lighting Preferences and Their Implications for Low-Carbon Indoor Lighting Transformation
摘要
Abstract
Against the global backdrop of addressing climate change and advancing the dual-carbon goals, lighting energy efficiency during the operational phase of buildings has become a key pathway for low-carbon transformation.Although low-carbon lighting technologies such as LEDs and smart controls are increasingly mature, their actual energy-saving performance is greatly influenced by user behavioral preferences, especially the diverse demands stemming from generational differences.Through field experiments and interviews, this study analyzes the lighting preference characteristics of three generational groups—those born in the 1960s/1970s,1980s,and 1990s/2000s—in terms of color temperature, illuminance, control methods, and energy-saving behaviors, and illustrates the differences in energy consumption under personalized lighting requirements. The results show that generational preferences have a significant impact on lighting energy use;for example, younger groups tend to prefer higher illuminance and interactive smart controls, resulting in a possible rebound effect in energy efficiency.Furthermore, the study proposes human-centered collaborative strategies for low-carbon lighting from the perspectives of technical system design, management mechanisms, and policy guidance, providing both theoretical and practical pathways to achieve energy savings together with occupant comfort and health.关键词
