Intelligent design of massage chairs based on Kansei engineering and AIGC technology

Abstract
This study explores the feasibility and methodology of integrating Kansei engineering with artificial intelligence generated content(AIGC)technology for the intelligent appearance design of massage chairs,aiming to better address the emotional and aesthetic needs of young consumers.Traditional product design has primarily focused on functionality;however,in today·s market,emotional resonance and personalized experience have become equally vital for consumer satisfaction.Kansei engineering,a user-centered design methodology,facilitates the quantitative transformation of users·perceptual and emotional preferences into concrete product design parameters.However,its application has largely remained confined to conventional design workflows.The rapid advancement of AIGC technologies presents new opportunities to expand and enhance the integration of Kansei engineering,within intelligent design systems.This research adopted a multi-stage methodology.In the first stage,eye-tracking experiments and Likert-scale surveys were conducted to capture user visual behavior and perceptual preferences toward 16 selected massage chair samples.From this data,attention metrics and preference scores were statistically analyzed to identify the most representative samples.Second,a set of Kansei words was collected and refined through literature review and expert discussion.Using correlation analysis via SPSS,the study determined the Kansei words most strongly associated with each sample·s overall evaluation score.Third,reverse image-to-text descriptions were generated using Midjourney·s"describe"function to extract design-relevant keywords from the top-ranked samples.These keywords were then matched to the most appropriate Kansei words,ensuring semantic alignment between emotional language and visual design elements.Based on this alignment,final design keywords were formulated and input into Midjourney to generate customized design schemes.Finally,the effectiveness of the AI-generated designs was verified through subjective evaluations by target users across 10 emotional dimensions.The results demonstrated that the proposed method could effectively produce designs that align with user emotional expectations,with key Kansei dimensions,such as"refined","high-end","stable",and"modern"consistently scoring above eight out of 10 across schemes.This research advances the field of intelligent product design by presenting a structured and validated approach to combining Kansei engineering with AIGC.It underscores the potential of AI-assisted emotional design and offers practical insights for future applications in personalized,emotionally driven product innovation.关键词
