西方语境中的苏东坡岭南形象
Image of Su Dongpo in Lingnan in the Western Context
摘要
Abstract
Four Western travel writings—Ling-Nam:Interior Views of Southern China Including Explorations in the Hitherto Untraversed Island of Hainan by an American missionary Benjamin Couch Henry,The Mystic Flowery Land:Be-ing a True Account of an Englishman's Travels and Adventures in China by an Englishman named Charles J.H.Hal-combe,L'ami qui venait de l'An Mil(Su Dongpo 1037-1101)by a French poet Claude Roy,and Paradise of the Mind:A Soul Dialogue between Su Dongpo and Tao Yuanming by an American sinologist Bill Porter—all recount the life experiences of the great Chinese literary figure Su Dongpo during his banishment in Lingnan.Though belonging to the same genre of travel literature, these texts originate from different periods and adopt distinct perspectives, constructing four interrelated yet distinct images of Su Dongpo:"a pioneer in localization practices in Lingnan","a gifted poet in ad-versity","a soulmate transcending time and space",and"a spiritual confidant of Tao Yuanming across generations".These four narrative models reveal the multiplicity of Su Dongpo's image within the Western gaze, reflecting underlying shifts in paradigms of cross-cultural understanding and stances of dialogue.关键词
