Abstract

To investigate the effects of low-salinity stress on the water absorption rate and antioxidant capacity of Amphioctopus fangsiao,individuals were exposed to four salinity levels(22,24,26,and 28).Changes in short-term(2,6,12,and 24 h)water absorption rates were examined,and alterations in gill superoxide dismutase(SOD)and catalase(CAT)activities,Na+/K+-ATPase activity,and muscle lactate content were assessed after different stress durations(24,36,and 48 h).The results showed that the water absorption rate of the A.fangsiao first increased and then decreased with the extension of time,reaching its peak at 12 h.Na+/K+-ATPase activity exhibited an increase-decrease-increase trend with increasing salinity at 24 h and 36 h,but an increase-decrease trend at 48 h.During the initial phase of salinity stress,SOD and CAT activities exhibited a coordinated increase.With prolonged stress,muscle lactate content in the 22 and 26-salinity groups first increased and then decreased,whereas the 24-salinity group showed an opposite trend;changes in the 28-salinity group were not significant(P>0.05).In conclusion,low salinity stress exerted significant effects on the physiological status of A.fangsiao,and the antioxidant level of the organism increased markedly during the initial stress phase.
