Abstract

The effects of adding gibberellin(GA),indole butyric acid(IBA),6-benzylaminopurine(6-BA),and forchlorfenuron(CPPU)on the sedimentation degree,dry mass,growth rate constant,and chlorophyll-a content of Chaetoceros muelleri were investigated.The results showed that 1.25 mg/L GA promoted the sedimentation de-gree of C.muelleri(P<0.05),but had no significant effects on dry mass or chlorophyll-a content(P>0.05).IBA at 6.10 mg/L promoted the dry mass and growth rate constant(P<0.05),but inhibited the sedimentation degree and chlorophyll-a content(P<0.05).6-BA at 2.25 mg/L inhibited both the growth rate constant and chlorophyll-a content(P<0.05),showed a trend of initial promotion followed by inhibition in sedimentation de-gree,and had no significant effect on dry mass(P>0.05).CPPU at 0.25 mg/L promoted chlorophyll-a content(P<0.05),but inhibited sedimentation degree(P<0.05)and had no significant effect on dry mass(P<0.05).These results indicate that different plant growth hormones and their concentrations exert distinct regulatory effects on the growth and physiological characteristics of C.muelleri,and that appropriate selection of growth regulators may contribute to its efficient cultivation.
