Abstract

In order to clarify the genetic law of melon fruit shape and the regulatory effect of agronomic mea-sures,the thick-skinned oblate inbred line 21Tm34(P1)and the thin-skinned long-rod inbred line TC3(P2)were used as parents.The F1 and F2 segregating populations were obtained by hybridization,and the backcross generations(BC1P1,BC1P2)were obtained by backcrossing with P1 and P2,respectively.The genetic analysis of fruit shape index of 6 generations was carried out by using the mixed genetic model of major gene+polygene.At the same time,the parents were used as materials to set different pruning way,fruit number,fruit setting node,exogenous hormone spraying and shading treatment,and the fruit shape index of mature fruit under each treat-ment was determined.The results showed that the inheritance of melon fruit shape index was consistent with the model controlled by two pairs of additive-dominant major genes and additive-dominant polygenes,and the herita-bility of major genes was high.21Tm34 reduced the number of vines and melons,fruit retention at high and low fruit setting nodes,and low light treatment,which significantly reduced the fruit shape index(P<0.05).TC3 in-creased the number of vines and melons,increased the fruit setting node,and performed weak light treatment,which significantly reduced the fruit shape index(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,exogenous appli-cation of 70 mg/L gibberellin had a significant effect on improving the fruit shape index(P<0.05),and the ap-plication of 15 and 20 mg/L cytokinin had an inhibitory effect(P<0.05),while there was no significant differ-ence in the application of auxin(P>0.05).In summary,melon fruit shape is controlled by major genes,and can also be effectively regulated by regulating source-sink relationship,light conditions and hormone signals.
