Analysis and Comprehensive Evaluation of Agronomic Trait Diversity in 20 Melon Germplasm Resources

Abstract
To reveal the diversity of agronomic traits of melon germplasm resources and screen excellent mate-rials with high sugar,high hardness,excellent fruit shape and large single fruit weight,43 agronomic traits of 20 melon germplasm resources were measured and comprehensively evaluated by correlation analysis,cluster analy-sis and principal component analysis.The coefficients of variation ranged from 10.31%to 26.06%,with petiole length demonstrating the highest variation rate of 26.06%.Diversity indices varied from 0.69 to 2.04,with inter-node length exhibiting the highest diversity index of 2.04.Quality trait diversity indices ranged from 0 to 2.20,where inner flesh color showed the highest diversity index of 2.20.A total of 26 trait pairs revealed highly signifi-cant positive correlations,while one pair displayed a highly significant negative correlation(P＜0.01).System-atic cluster analysis categorized the data into three distinct clusters.Principal component analysis revealed that the cumulative contribution rate of the three principal components-economic factors,appearance factors,and storage and transportation factors-reached 70.14%.This finding permits the substitution of the original eight trait indica-tors for a comprehensive evaluation of melon germplasm resources.Among the 20 melon germplasm resources assessed,M20 achieved the highest comprehensive score of 0.803.The comprehensive evaluation identified five germplasm lines-M20,M14,M11,M12,and M19-as exhibiting superior overall trait performance.关键词
