Effects of Nitrogen Fertilizer Treatment on the Growth and Development and Yield Components of Different Cotton Varieties

Abstract
Different cotton varieties exhibit significant differences in their fertilizer requirement character-istics.Clarifying the nitrogen response characteristics of various cotton varieties can effectively enhance the efficiency of cotton fertilization.This experiment employed a two-factor randomized block design,invol-ving four cotton varieties:Lumianyan 24,Xinluzao 45,Xinluzao 50,and Xinluzao 62.There were four nitro-gen application levels:no nitrogen(control),120,240,and 360 kg/hm2,resulting in a total of 16 treat-ments.Each treatment was repeated three times to investigate the response patterns of cotton leaf area in-dex(LAI),leaf SPAD value,leaf nitrogen content,and yield to nitrogen fertilizer.The results indicated that there was a significant interaction effect between nitrogen application rate and variety on LAI,SPAD value,and leaf nitrogen content(P<0.05).Xinluzao 62 had significantly higher leaf nitrogen content and yield under the 360 kg/hm2 treatment compared to other varieties,with a single boll weight and seed cotton yield reaching up to 6.15 g and 6 293.5 kg/hm2,respectively(P<0.05),showing significant differences across nitrogen treatments.Xinluzao 50 achieved a seed cotton yield of 5 018.5 kg/hm2 under the 360 kg/hm2 treatment,significantly increasing by 37.8%,22.6%,and 10.6%(P<0.05)compared to the no nitrogen(control),120,and 240 kg/hm2 nitrogen treatments,respectively.Xinluzao 45 achieved a seed cotton yield of 5 672.5 kg/hm2 under the 360 kg/hm2 treatment,significantly increasing compared to the no nitrogen(control)and 120 kg/hm2 nitrogen treatments(P<0.05),there were no significant differ-ences in seed cotton yield between the 240 kg/hm2 treatments(P>0.05).Lumianyan 24 had an overall lower yield,reaching 5 042.5 kg/hm2 under the 360 kg/hm2 treatment.In summary,all varieties per-formed optimally under the 360 kg/hm2 nitrogen application treatment.关键词
