Abstract

Objective:To explore the application value of fat fraction based on magnetic resonance fat quantification(FACT)technique in predicting the occurrence of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures(OVCFs).Methods:A retrospec-tive analysis was conducted in this study.Eighty-four patients with OVCFs in the hospital from July 2023 to February 2025 were selected and included in fracture group,and 80 elderly people with osteoporosis who came to the hospital for physical examination during the same period were used as control group.The fat fraction of vertebral body was measured by 3.0T MRI FACT sequence.Logistic regression analysis was performed to explore the related factors affecting the occurrence of OVCFs by taking presence or absence of fracture as a binary dependent variable.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic efficiency of fat fraction for OVCFs.Results:The bone mineral density of patients in fracture group was lower than that of control group(P<0.05),and the fat fraction of the fracture group was higher than that of control group(P<0.05).Multivariate Logistic analysis showed that low bone mineral density and high fat fraction were risk factors for OVCFs(P<0.05).ROC curve revealed that the cut-off value of fat fraction for OVCFs diagnosis was 62.69%.The sensitivities of fat fraction alone and fat fraction combined with bone mineral density were 0.64 and 0.52,and the specificities were 0.76 and 0.98 respectively(P<0.05).Conclusion:Fat fraction detected based on FACT technology is expected to be a non-invasive bio-logical indicator for diagnosing OVCFs.
