生态法治强化对企业污染减排的影响研究
Impact of strengthening ecological rule of law on corporate pollution reduction:evidence from a quasi‑natural experiment based on the establishment of environmental courts

Abstract
Deepening law-based administration and continuously strengthening law-based pollution control in the field of ecological environment are critical for enhancing source protection and litigation source governance of the ecological environment.As specialized judicial institutions for environmental cases,environmental courts impose environmental constraints on corporate pollution reduction.Treating the establishment of environmental courts as a quasi-natural experiment and using data from Chinese A-share listed companies from 2002 to 2022,this study constructed a multi-period difference-in-differences(DID)model to examine the effects,underlying mech‐anisms,and pathways through which the establishment of environmental courts influenced corporate pollution reduction.The findings were as follows:① The establishment of environmental courts significantly promoted corporate pollution reduction,and this conclusion remained robust.② Mechanism analysis showed that the establishment of environmental courts reduced corporate energy consumption per unit output and air pollutant emissions primarily through two effects:"promoting green innovation and increasing environmental in‐formation disclosure"and"preventive governance."Specifically,the former was reflected in that the establishment of environmental courts forced firms to engage in green innovation and development and improve environmental information disclosure,thereby promot‐ing pollution reduction and emission control.The latter was reflected in that the establishment of environmental courts strengthened both front-end prevention and end-of-pipe treatment.③ Heterogeneity analysis revealed that higher profit volatility and current liability ratios of firms could weaken the promoting effect of the establishment of environmental courts on corporate pollution reduction and emis‐sion control,while stronger regional environmental protection efforts and higher environmental governance incentives in the region could enhance this effect.④ Extended analysis showed that the establishment of environmental courts could improve the quality and ef‐ficiency of the ecological legislation system,enhance the efficacy of rigid enforcement(e.g.,environmental penalties),and weaken reli‐ance on soft measures(e.g.,environmental interviews).Based on the above conclusions,the following policy recommendations are pro‐posed:At the government level,efforts should be continuously made to strengthen the construction of environmental courts,expand their coverage,and improve their professionalism.Additionally,enhancing the coordination between legal norms and policy instruments and strengthening law enforcement capacity are necessary to create a synergistic mechanism spanning legislation,law enforcement,and the judiciary in the field of ecological environment.At the corporate level,efforts should be made to increase green R&D investment,en‐sure information transparency through mandatory environmental disclosures,optimize production processes,adopt clean energy and ad‐vanced pollution control technologies,strictly control emissions,and actively fulfill environmental responsibilities.关键词
