Impact mechanisms of science and technology innovation platforms on green technology innovation:based on the mediating effect of the innovation ecosystem

Abstract

The innovation ecosystem derived from science and technology innovation platforms,as an important hub for pooling scien‐tific and technological innovation resources,is increasingly becoming the backbone of empowering green technology innovation due to its diversified attributes.It is necessary to place science and technology innovation platforms and the innovation ecosystem within the same framework to study their impact on regional green technology innovation.Based on this,from the perspective of innovation ecosys‐tem construction,using China's provincial panel data from 2008 to 2022,this study employed panel regression models,mediating effect models,and spatial econometric models to explore the impact of science and technology innovation platforms on green technology inno‐vation.The results showed that:① Science and technology innovation platforms had a significant positive effect on green technology in‐novation,and this conclusion remained valid after endogeneity analysis and robustness discussion.② The innovation ecosystem had a mediating effect in the impact of science and technology innovation platforms on green technology innovation,and the development of such platforms could promote the development of the innovation ecosystem,thereby promoting the improvement of green technology in‐novation.③ There was regional heterogeneity in the role of science and technology innovation platforms in improving green technology innovation.In areas with low digital information application levels,the impact of science and technology innovation platforms on green technology innovation was more significant.In areas with high green taxes,the marginal incremental effect of science and technology in‐novation platforms on green technology innovation was greater.In areas with low green credit,the marginal incremental effect of science and technology innovation platforms on green technology innovation was also greater.④ Science and technology innovation platforms had a significant positive spillover effect on regional green technology innovation,and the connections and interactions of economy,technology,and knowledge were important forces catalyzing the spatial spillover effect of science and technology innovation platforms on green technology innovation.
