Effects of Saline-alkali Stress on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Chenopodium quinoa

Abstract
To investigate the effects of different concentrations of salt and alkali stress on the germina-tion of Chenopodium quinoa seeds and the growth of seedlings,the petri dish bud formation method was used.A mixture of salt and alkali(NaCl,Na2 SO4,NaHCO3,Na2 CO3=9∶1∶9∶1)was prepared,and 9 concentration gradients were set:control(0),20,40,60,80,100,120,140,160,180 mmol/L.Additionally,a mixture of alkali(NaHCO3,Na2CO3=9∶1)was prepared,and 9 concentration gra-dients were set:control(0),10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90 mmol/L.Each Chenopodium quinoa seed was subjected to stress treatment at different concentrations.The results showed that the effects of the salt and alkali mixture and the alkali mixture on the germination of Chenopodium quinoa seeds and the growth of seedlings were low concentration promoting and high concentration inhibiting.At the same stress concentration,the inhibitory degree on Chenopodium quinoa seeds was stronger for alkali stress than for the salt and alkali mixture stress.The responses of the 2 Chenopodium quinoa varieties to the 2 types of stress were consistent,but there were differences between the varieties.In terms of adaptability to salt and alkali stress,the Chenopodium quinoa Taiwan-red was stronger than Baili No.1.关键词
