Abstract

Ti3C2Tx is a typical two-dimensional transition metal carbonitride(MXene),while tungsten carbide is a typical transition metal carbide with electrochemical catalytic activity.They both have potential in the field of electrochemical energy storage.In this article,porous Ti3C2Tx self-supporting membranes were prepared by a salt-induced self-assembly vacuum filtration technology,on which WCx thin films were deposited by magnetron sputtering.By adjusting the deposition time,the loading amount of tungsten carbide on the substrate could be accurately controlled.WCx/Ti3C2Tx membranes,as flexible electrodes,have been applied to supercapacitors,exhibiting excellent electrochemical performance:in the 1 M H2SO4 electrolyte,the volume specific capacitance was 798 F·cm-3 at a current density of 1 A·g-1.The specific capacity retention rate was above 95.8%after 5000 cycles at a high current density of 5 A·g-1.This study could provide a new strategy for the design of tungsten carbide and MXene based flexible electrodes for applications in electrochemical energy storage such as supercapacitors.
