Effect of Al2O3 coating on electrochemical performance of LiNi0.5Co0.2Mn0.3O2

Abstract
Surface coating is an important means to delay the aging of cathode materials in Li-ion batteries.The aluminum oxide(Al2O3)coating materials with α,θ,δ and γ crystalline phases are prepared by adjusting the calcination temperature,the effect of the coating layer on the performance of LiNi0.5Co0.2Mn0.3O2(NCM523)cathode material is studied.The Al2O3 coatings enhance the electrochemical performance of the cathode material.The coating layers suppress interfacial side reactions between the active material and the electrolyte,reduce the dissolution of transition metal ions,and improve the structural stability of the material.When charged and discharged in 3.0-4.3 V,batteries assembled with the Al2O3-coated cathode exhibit a discharge specific capacity of 115.3 mAh/g at a high rate of 5.0 C and maintain a discharge specific capacity of 124.1 mAh/g after 300 cycles at 1.0 C.关键词
