Abstract
To mitigate the chromatic dispersion-induced power fading effects in the optical double-sideband(DSB)systems,the single-sideband(SSB)system with multilevel subcarrier index-power modulation(ML-SIPM)in optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM)is proposed.It utilized multi-level subcarrier power to transfer additional subcarrier information bits and achieve optical SSB modulation with optical filtering,which inhibited frequency selective fading caused by chromatic dispersion.Besides,it did not need complex transceiver algorithms to suppress inter-signal beat frequency interference.The simulation results show that the effective transmission distance of 54 Gbit/s ML-SIPM-OFDM signal can reach 80 km in optical SSB transmission systems.Compared with the traditional optical DSB systems,the receiver sensitivity can be improved by 4 dB in back-to-back optical channels.Meanwhile,the SSB systems with ML-SIPM are more robust to chromatic dispersion,and provide a technical solution for the future long reach,high capacity and high-speed optical access networks.关键词
