Abstract

A bio-based sulfonate trimer surfactant(3C15BSA)was synthesized from cardanol and cyanuric chloride,and its molecular structure was characterized by FTIR,1H NMR,and ICP elemental analysis.The surface/interface and emulsifying properties of 3C15BSA were evaluated.Molecular dynamics models were established to simulate the oil-displacing performance of 3C15BSA at the molecular and atomic levels.The results show that 3C15BSA has higher surface/interface activity than traditional single-chain surfactants,with critical micelle concentration and critical surface tension values of 0.344 mmol/L and 30.28 mN/m,respectively.The multiple hydrogen-bond interactions of N and O heteroatoms between the hydrophilic groups of 3C15BSA molecules make the 3C15BSA molecules evenly distributed at the oil-water interface.Compared with traditional water flooding and polymer flooding,3C15BSA binary flooding results in significantly higher oil recovery,lower crude oil saturation,and a markedly improved residual oil mobilization rate.
