Abstract
This study systematically investigates the current landscape of data visualization positions in internationally renowned university libraries,aiming to reveal their professional characteristics and competency requirements,and to provide insights for the development of related position systems in China.Using website surveys and content analysis,this study examines 28 university libraries,including 22 from the top-tier 2025 QS World University Rankings and 6 additional representative institutions,focusing on three dimensions:the titles,responsibilities,and personnel background characteristics of data visualization positions.The findings indicate that the responsibilities of data visualization professionals encompass multiple domains,including data analysis,technology application,user education and training,and interdisciplinary collaboration.University libraries generally place a high value on candidates with advanced educational backgrounds,multidisciplinary professional competencies,and practical experience in data-related fields.Based on these findings,this paper proposes targeted recommendations for the development of data visualization services in Chinese university libraries,focusing on the hierarchical design of position systems,the construction of a core competency framework,the deepening of service content,and the enhancement of collaborative mechanisms.关键词
