Abstract
This study investigated the effects of dietary rosemary extract(RE)on growth performance, serum antioxidant indices, muscle amino acid composition, and flavor substances in broilers. In a completely randomized design,320 one-day-old Arbor Acres broilers were allotted to four groups(8 replicates of 10 birds each):a control(CON,basal diet)and three groups fed the basal diet supplemented with 150,300,or 600 mg/kg RE(RE150,RE300,RE600).The trial lasted 42 days. Results indicated that compared with CON,the RE300 and RE600 groups showed significantly increased final body weight(by 9.8%and 6.8%)and average daily gain(by 9.6%and 6.8%),and a reduced feed-to-gain ratio(by 5.9%and 4.3%)(P<0.05).The RE300 group exhibited markedly enhanced serum total antioxidant capacity(38.4%)and glutathione peroxidase activity(35.2%),along with a 41.3%reduction in malondialdehyde content versus CON(P<0.05).Muscle total amino acids and the essential amino acid ratio were improved in all RE groups, most notably in RE300.The contents of key flavor-active amino acids(e.g.,glutamic acid, glycine)and volatile flavor compounds(e.g.,aldehydes,ketones)were significantly higher in the RE300 and RE600 groups(P<0.05).In conclusion, supplementing 300 mg/kg rosemary extract effectively improved broiler growth, enhanced antioxidant status, and elevated the nutritional and sensory quality of meat.关键词
