Biological Characteristics of Parasitic Wasp Euplectrus cinctiventris Ferrière(Hymenoptera:Eulophidae)on Semiothisa cinerearia

Abstract
Euplectrus cinctiventris Ferrière is an important parasitic natural enemy of Semiothisa cmerearia.Investigation of the biological characteristics of E.cinctiventris is of a great significance for understanding its ecological function and application in pest control.This study systematically investigated the biological traits of E.cinctiventris,including morphological features,life history,and host selection,using microscopic photography and artificial rearing methods.The results showed that E.cinctiventris has a typical ectoparasitic life history.Under the condition of feeding 30%honey water at 26 ℃,the lifespan of the female wasps reached 33.5 days.The wasps mainly parasitized the 2nd—4th instar larvae of S.cmerearia,with eggs laid on the dorsal surface of the 1st—4th abdominal segments of the host.The fecundity and offspring sex ratio of the wasp varied according to the host size.The female-to-male sex ratios of offspring reared on the 2nd—4th instar host larvae were 2.1∶1.5,4.6∶2.5,and 8.9∶1.8,respectively.A positive correlation was observed between the instar of parasitized hosts and both the number of eggs laid by the wasps and the proportion of female offspring.The developmental threshold temperatures for the egg,larva,and pupa were 9.96,12.45,and 18.26 ℃,respectively,with effective accumulated temperatures of 16.04,83.74,and 55.73 day-degrees,respectively.This results provide a valuable theoretical support and practical guidance for utilizing E.cinctiventris in biological control.关键词
