Abstract

Rice direct-seeding reduces labor and time,but conventional cultivars often have a low seedling emergence rate.Identifying excellent germplasm suitable for dry or water direct-seeding conditions is a key strategy to address this issue.In this study,203 germplasm accessions were evaluated based on key emergence-related traits,including shoot length,coleoptile length,mesocotyl length,first internode length,root length,and root number,under both dry and water direct-seeding conditions.The comprehensive evaluation D value was obtained by using the membership function analysis method.Furthermore,using cluster analysis,the dry direct-seeding emergence ability of 203 germplasm resources was categorized into four grades,while the water direct-seeding emergence ability was classified into five grades.The materials with the first grade in dry direct-seeding emergence ability include CG14,Nanhui 559,and Shuhui 505.Those with the first grade in water direct-seeding emergence ability are Minghui 78,Dehui 979,Mianhui 3728,Shuhui 527,Shuhui 622,Guanghui 198,Duoxi 1,Luhui 17,Mianhui 501,Mianhui 662,Mianhui 725,R130,Dongnanhui 510,Taihui 808,Xu R,HR2168,Chuanhui 332,Jinyu,Shenhui 9734,Zhonghui 8015,Jinhui 21,Minghui 63,Shuhui 137,Chuanhui 907,Minhui 3301,and WR1.However,there is an antagonism in the emergence ability between dry direct-seeding and water-direct seeding.To identify dual-superior germplasm tolerant to both adverse stresses,the screening revealed that among the 26 accessions with grade 1 water direct-seeding emergence ability,10 accessions exhibited grade 2 dry direct-seeding emergency ability.These accessions demonstrate broad adaptability and represent valuable genetic resources for breeding direct-seeding rice varieties.Notably,10 accessions lacked the excellent alleles of OsTPP7,OsPAO5,or OsUBC12,indicating the existence of novel,unexplored genes that contribute to direct seeding.This study offer valuable germplasm resources and genetic insights for breeding rice varieties adapted to direct seeding.
